WOOD WOOL CUTTER
Wood wool cutter
The wood wool cutter, also known as a wood planer or wood shaver, is a professional tool for cutting wood log into a wood fibers.
The construction of a wood wool cutter typically consists of a sharp cutting blade or set of blades mounted on a sturdy frame. The blades are adjustable, allowing craftsmen to control the thickness and width of the wood shavings produced.
In the field of packaging, wood wool is a popular choice for cushioning delicate objects during transportation. Its natural shock-absorbing properties make it an ideal material to protect fragile items, such as glassware or pottery.

Detailed informations
Professional HW wood wool cutting machine, manufactured by TOS Svitavy, CZE is of four-action design processing soft wood in blocks approx. 420 to 520 mm long. The machine is composed of two parts, left and right. Its design complies with the demands made on the outpus, working reliability and attendance simplicity as well. High-quality, smooth and fibrous wool of even thickness and width can be produced on the properly set machine. The width of the wood wool is determined by the distance of the vertical knives which incise the timber. The cutting proper os effected by the horizontal cutting knives throughout the entire width of the timber. Both sets of knives are fitted in holders on a tool slide which performs a pendulum motion.
The tool slide is guided in the strips – one of them is of wee type and the other is flat. The flat guiding strip allows for the thermal delatation of the tool slide duting the machine operation. The upper, holding-down strips are of flat, adjustable type.
The pendulum motion of the tool slide is actuated by the crank mechanism with a flywheel mounted on a common shaft with a V-belt pulley. The machine is started and stopped by means of push-buttons, through contactors. The crank mechanism is arranged on a cast iron frame which is to be dismounted during the machine transportaiton. The flywheel and the crank mechanism space are protected by guards.
The processed wood blocks are gripped by grooved holdingdown rolls which are pressed down by hydraulic cylinders. The dydraulic cylinders of two-action type are controlled by the pedals over the distributors. The forward and the backward motion is actuated by pressure oil. Feed into the cut is powe-operated, by step-by-step rotation of the cylinders and its rate is infinitely variable by a rocker arm. The thicknes of the wood wool is governed by the rate of feed.
Four blocks can be processed on the machine at the time. The machine is driven by an electric motor through V-belts.
